St Eunan’s bow out of Tony O'Neill National Cup after penalty shootout defeat

St Eunan's College suffered a penalty shootout defeat on Thursday

St Eunan’s College saw their FAI Schools Dr Tony O’Neill Senior National Cup campaign come to an end at the semi-final stage after a dramatic penalty shootout defeat to Blackrock College on Thursday.

This comes two weeks after the Donegal school knocked last year’s Ulster and All-Ireland champions Scoil Mhuire Buncrana off their perch following their 2-0 over the Inishowen men in the Dr Tony O’Neill U-19 Senior Ulster Cup final.

The Letterkenny side faced the Dublin school at Oriel Park, Dundalk, where a tightly contested match ended goalless after extra time.

With neither team able to break the deadlock, the tie was decided from the spot, where Blackrock held their nerve to claim a 4-1 victory on penalties.
