The St Columba’s U-17 boys’ football team has booked their place in the Ulster Final after a dramatic penalty shootout victory over Loreto Milford in a fiercely contested semi-final on Friday.

In a match that saw both sides battle relentlessly, it was Loreto Milford who broke the deadlock midway through the second half. But with St Columba’s, refusing to back down, they kept pushing for an equaliser, and their persistence paid off in the dying moments of normal time.

Cian Thompson emerged as the hero, finding the net in the final minute to send the game into extra time.

Despite further chances for both teams, extra time produced no winner, leaving the contest to be decided by penalties. St Columba’s goalkeeper, Noah Boyle, proved the difference, making two crucial saves to secure a 4-3 shootout victory.

With this hard-fought win, St Columba’s now advance to the Ulster Final, where they will face Abbey VS, Donegal Town, next Friday at Letterkenny Community Centre.
