Tyler Toland and Luke O'Donnell nominated for FAI Player of the Year awards

St Johnston native Tyler Toland is nominated for the Young Women's International Player of the Year, while Buncrana man Luke O'Donnell is one of three nominees for the Men’s Under-18 International Player of the Year

Tyler Toland and Luke O'Donnell have been nominated for International Player of the Year awards at the 35th Football Association of Ireland (FAI) International Awards, while Anna Patten is up for the Senior Women’s International Player of the Year.

Toland, from Saint Johnston, is up for the Young Women's International Player of the Year and Buncrana man Luke O'Donnell is nominated for the Under 18 International Player of the Year.

The 23-year-old Toland, who finished the season with English Championship club Blackburn Rovers, has started the last two games for the WNT in wins over Greece, while her other start in the last twelve months also ended in a win over Georgia.

Luke O'Donnell, who joined Wolves from Derry City for a six-figure fee in September.

The former Cockhill Celtic academy player has been an important member of the Ireland Under-18s over the last year.

Anna Patten qualifies for Ireland through her maternal grandparents - Donald Coyle, a native of Falcarragh and Bridie Coyle, nee Conroy.

The London-born Aston Villa star has been a huge player for Ireland since making her debut last year, scoring three times in 14 games.

Toland and Patten, along with Milford's Amber Barrett, will be in action this Friday as Ireland travel to face Türkiye in their penultimate Nations League game before they host top of the table Slovenia in Páirc Uí Chaoimh next Tuesday.

The winners will be presented with their trophies in the Aviva Stadium ahead of the International Friendly between Ireland and Senegal.

The performances taken into account are from June 2024 to May 2025.

The inductees to the FAI Hall of Fame and the Special Merit recipient will be announced before the event, along with the nominees for the Amateur Player of the Year.

The awards take place on Friday, June 6.
