Loreto Secondary School came from behind to defeat Carndonagh Community School in the Ulster U17 final this week.

At the Letterkenny Community Centre, Carndonagh took the lead, but Loreto drew level before half-time.

After Aisling McGinley’s initial shot was saved, Sinead McLaughlin reacted to power home from the rebound.

With strong support from the sidelines, Loreto began the second half with renewed focus. A well-delivered free kick from Sophie Doherty caused difficulty in the Carndonagh defence, and Emer Cassidy fired in to give Loreto the lead

Captain Doherty led from the back, organising her defence effectively as they worked hard to protect their advantage and goalkeeper Caoimhe McLaughlin produced an assured performance, making important saves to keep Carndonagh from equalising.
