The Republic of Ireland team that beat Germany

Catherine Grier and Teagan O’Reilly have helped the Republic of Ireland into the semi-finals at the European Deaf Futsal Championships in Croatia.

After losing out ot Sweden, Ireland needed a win in their final game against Germany to finish in the top two and qualify for the semi-finals.

Germany, who had beaten the Swedes and were unbeaten in their first three games, were rocked by a powerful Irish team who ran out 5-0 winners in an impressive display.

Ramelton woman Grier scored in the win, with Rebekah Grant, Natalie O’Brien, and two from goalkeeper Brooklyn Dunne sealing the win.

Ireland finished second in the group on twelve points, with wins over Hungary, the Netherlands and a walkover against Turkiye adding to their points before the win over Germany on St Patrick’s Day.

Ireland will face England in the semi-finals on Thursday.

Grier also plays for Bonagee United, while Donegal Town woman O’Reilly lines out for Drumbar United.
