Gerry McAnaney, the President of the Football Association of Ireland, will be in Ballyare this week as the Donegal Junior League celebrates its 50th anniversary.
McAnaney has close family ties to the Killea area, will be at The Diamond Park on Friday night.
There, he will unveil a commemorative plaque to mark the league’s golden jubilee.
While the Donegal Junior League was officially founded in 1971, this weekend marks the 50th anniversary of the first official round of league matches in March 1972.
After the official engagement on Friday night, Bonagee United and St Catherine’s meet in the first of the Brian McCormick Sports Cup semi-finals.
Kildrum Tigers and Keadue Rovers clash in the second semi on Sunday at Flagpole Park, Rathmullan.
On Saturday, the Voodoo Venue Cup semi-finals take place with Fintown Harps meeting Oldtown Celtic (Dreenan, Ballybofey) and Ramelton Mariners locking horns with Strand Rovers (Carrickboyle, Gweedore).
