Fintan Doherty
Fintan Doherty has been included in the Republic of Ireland Under-17 squad for the Elite Phase qualifiers in Portugal.
The Letterkenny teenager, who plays for Derry City, is on the 20-man squad selected by head coach Colin O’Brien.
The St Eunan’s College student, a former schoolboy player at Bonagee United, featured on Derry City’s senior squad in pre-season.
Doherty has become a regular feature in Irish panels.
Ireland have travelled to Portugal and take on the hosts on Wednesday, followed by Finland on Saturday and Bulgaria next Tuesday.
O’Brien said: "Our objective at the start of the season was at a minimum to get to the Elite Phase and we’ve achieved that.
“The players know that possible outcome of the Elite Phase is place in the European Finals in Israel in May. That’s what’s at stake now and it will be a great challenge for us all.”
