Football matches fall foul of Donegal's frosty spell

The frosty weather has begun to play havoc with sporting fixtures in Donegal.

Three local football matches which were slated for Friday night have all been called off.

The Ulster Senior Cup game between Bonagee United and Letterkenny Rovers was called off following a late afternoon pitch inspection at Dry Arc Park.

Earlier in the day, two games in the Donegal League fell victim to the weather.

The Brian McCormick Cup Area play-offs Rathmullan Celtic v Fanad United (The Diamond Park) and Kilmacrennan Celtic v Keadue Rovers (Letterkenny Community Centre) were both called off.

A yellow weather warning for snow and ice is currently in place in Donegal.

Met Éireann say: “Scattered sleet and snow showers will give some accumulations, especially on high ground.”
