Important Bundoran Vacant and Derelict buildings info event tomorrow

Donegal County Council is holding a drop in information event at Bundoran Library tomorrow to provide information on the supports available to refurbish Vacant and Derelict properties in the resort.

It takes place from 11am to 2pm and two members of Donegal County Council will be in attendance.

Derelict and Vacant buildings, especially in the West End of the resort are one the issues that have been identified in the recent Draft Development plan and need addressing, both planners and locals agreed at a recent discussion evening held at the local Community Centre. 

Locals and those who have a vacant or derelict property can come along and find out further information on the following supports, no appointments are needed.

Under the Vacant Property Refurbishment Grant Scheme, Grants of up to €84,000 available to refurbish vacant and derelict properties that have been vacant for two years or more and will be the owner’s principal private residence or made available to rent. 

Under the Repair and Lease Scheme, financial support of €80,000 per unit available to bring vacant properties back into use to lease to Donegal County Council for social housing in areas where there is a need.

Expressions of interest can also be made to help fund the cost of having a conservation expert provide advice to refurbish vacant traditional farmhouses that are availing of the Vacant Property Refurbishment Grant Scheme.
