Jason Sherlock took in some of Donegal's best scenery in visiting Towney, the home of Kilcar GAA club.

"I wanted to experience this place for myself, it didn’t disappoint," the Dublin seven-time Leinster champion and 1995 All-Ireland posted on x, formerly Twitter.

Former Donegal and Gaoth Dobhair defender Kevin Cassidy replied with his memories of lining up the venture: "I used to spend most of the games I played there arguing with the supporters on that hill on the left and dealing with their abuse" Great pitch and great club."

Na Fianna in Glasnevin clubman Sherlock played for the Metropolitans between 1995 and 2010, whilst also playing League of Ireland football for UCD and Shamrock Rovers.  In late 2002, he was announced as performance coach of the Westmeath senior footballers, working under the management of Dessie Dolan.

Towney made it as far as the big screen last year, with football scenes shot for the 'In the Land of Saints and Sinners'  movie which starred Liam Neeson, Kerry Condon, Jack Gleeson and Ciarán Hinds.
