Businessman Joseph Molloy from Gaoth Dobhair was selected as the Fine Gael (FG) candidate for the upcoming local elections at a convention which was held in the Highlands Hotel last night.
Mr Molloy told those gathered that he has served the community for thirty though his businesses in Derrybeg and hopes this experience will translate to the political arena where he intends to help people with their problems and help resolve their issues.
Mr Molloy's selection was uncontested. The secretary of the Fine Gael Glenties Municipal District, John Curran said they were delighted to welcome Fine Gael TD Frank Feighan to Donegal to chair the meeting.

Deputy Frank Feighan spoke of the importance of building a strong team in council at local level. He described Mr Molloy as an excellent and hard working candidate. Former TD for the Fine Gael party, Dinny McGinley, was present at the convention.
