Arranmore RNLI relief mechanic John McHugh was part of the team called out in the early hours
The volunteer crew of Arranmore RNLI were called at 2:50am, today, Thursday, to transfer a patient from the island ambulance to a waiting ambulance in Burtonport for transfer to Letterkenny University Hospital.
The crew on board were Coxswain Sean Curtin; Relief mechanic John McHugh; Seán O’Donnell; Kieran O’Donnell and Sharon O’Donnell.

Relief mechanic John McHugh said: "We are a 24/7 emergency service and are happy to be called out to assist in whatever emergency arises, day or night. We would like to wish the patient a speedy recovery and thank both the island and mainland ambulances for their services. We work very closely with all the emergency services who are also on call around the clock.’
