Members of the Donegal Irish Whale and Dolphin Group traveled to Maghery beach today where a whale was washed ashore.

It has been confirmed that the whale is dead. At present, it is thought that the body may be that of a sperm whale.

Storm Dudley is battering the coast at present making it difficult for anyone to get close to the whale.

People are being asked to refrain from going near the beach as weather conditions may worsen as the day progresses.

More to follow.
