Friends of Letterkenny University Hospital have organised their annual church gate collection for the weekend of October 12 and 13.
The Friends of Letterkenny University Hospital celebrated their 32 anniversary this year and recently donated €380,000 to the hospital to purchase an ultrasound machine for respiratory medicine, a double balloon assisted enteroscopy system for gastroenterology, a contrast pump injector of radiology and the symptomatic breast care service, a rezúme prostate treatment system and a thulium fibre laser system for urology services.
These items of equipment will either enhance existing services in LUH or will enable the provision of new services locally, where patients had to travel outside LUH previously.
The Friends are cooperating with the HSE in the delivery of a pilot project for a defined period around the provision of transport for patients from Donegal who require access to services in University Hospital Galway.
