A ‘Dip for Peace’ is scheduled to take place at Downings Beach tomorrow.
The fundraiser has been organised in aid and solidarity with the Palestinian people. The meeting point is at the Downings Hotel Beer Garden at 12:30pm and the swim is starting at 1pm sharp.
“We’re gathering because we care. Because we believe children deserve safety, dignity, and a future,” The Viking Dipper, Patrick Browne said. “In 2011, over 12,000 children in Gaza flew kites and set a world record — a moment of joy and hope. This year, children will fly kites on Downings Beach in their honour. Bring your children. Let them fly one for Gaza.”
“We know our history. We know what it means to be occupied, silenced, and starved and we know what it means to stand up — not just for ourselves, but for others. To be Irish is to remember. To be Irish is to care. To be Irish is to show up.”

The event is free to attend, but a GoFundMe has been set up - A Dip for Peace. The donations will go to UNICEF, Medical Aid for Palestine and supporting the children of Palestine. The event raised over €10,000 last year.

“Every cent raised through this fundraiser will go directly towards providing urgent food supplies and lifesaving medical aid for the people of Palestine.”
