Students at primary schools across Donegal have been invited to participate in a road safety art competition.
The competition is aimed at raising awareness about road safety through creating artwork with a road safety slogan centred on this year’s theme, “Crossing the Road Safely”, promoting the importance of remaining alert, visible and making safe choices.
The competition was launched at St Mary’s National School, Castlefin. The winning road safety artwork will be displayed by Finn Harps Football Club on their grounds and online platforms, and by Kernans in their shops.
“We are excited to launch the 2026 Primary School Road Safety Art Competition, giving students across the county the chance to use their creativity to help spread the important message about road safety,” Pamela Smullen, Donegal County Council, stated. “This competition aims to raise awareness and encourage good road safety habits at an early age.
“Donegal County Council and the Donegal Road Safety Working Group appreciate the efforts from schools across the county who take part and play a vital role in promoting road safety. We thank Finn Harps for their continued support of the competition and in promoting greater awareness of staying safe on the roads.”
Students are invited to submit entries to be in with a chance of winning prizes, as well as a special prize for the school of the overall winner. The class of the overall winning entry will receive training equipment and a coaching session with Finn Harps coaches.
