Be part of a community pollinator initiative in Donegal

A Donegal community is inviting people to work together with small actions to be part of a very important community initiative, the Zero Waste Pollinator Project.

A spokesperson for the Pettigo initiative said: “Be part of a small community with a big heart, and an opportunity to grow something beautiful together.

“Everyone is welcome, everyone can play a part, and every small action helps.”

The first stage of the project is a collection of used coffee cups. Simply rinse, dry and drop them off to the Termon Complex.

“Even one cup makes a difference,” said the spokesperson. “Thank you for helping.

“In late March, there will be a community sowing day. Join neighbours for a relaxed seed-sowing morning.

No experience needed and all ages are welcome.

“Take your seeds home to grow and check in on their progress.

“In mid-May there will be a transplant day and community picnic. Bring your seedlings to our shared  pollinator area, plant together, and enjoy a casual community picnic to celebrate what our small but mighty community has achieved, working together for a brighter, greener village - because little places can do big things.”
