Katie-George Dunlevy ends year with another World bronze medal

Katie-George Dunlevy continues to amaze with another bronze medal at the World Track finals at the weekend.
Along with a completely new partner, Alice Sharpe, Katie-George took bronze in the 4k pursuit at the World Track event at the Omnisport, Apeldoorn in the Netherlands.
It is an event that Katie-George rarely gets to race and to do so with a completely new partner and medal on the world stage just shows what an athlete she is.
It is the final race of the year for the cyclist with strong Donegal connections as her father, John, is a proud native of Mountcharles.
Speaking on her Facebook page afterwards, Katie-George said: "Did that actually happen. World Bronze medalists in the 4k pursuit!
"I’m really pleased to be racing with such an exceptional pilot as Alice Sharpe on the track. We’ve had so little practice time together on the track, I’m excited to see where we can go!
"This was the first time we have raced together, the first time I have raced in this longer distance (it used to be 3k) and we had to do it twice in one day!
"What a week for Ireland!
"Our team brought home four medals, with national records and pbs. With no track in our country, we are exceeding far beyond expectation. Success breeds success though and it goes to show what’s possible when you have great athletes in a team who support and believe in each other.
"Thank you to our coach Jamie Blanchfield, support staff and Cycling Ireland.
"But now, for me, it’s time to rest up and enjoy some much needed time off!"
