Catching the eye: Players to watch in this year’s Football Championships

With county players not playing for spells of the All-County Football League, there were a number of stand-out players who have yet to make their senior inter-county bow that will be looking to take their good form into the football championships in the coming weeks

Carlos O'Reilly (St Michael's)
Carlos O’Reilly has been to the fore at underage and at club level for some time, even though still only 20 years of age. His introduction to the Donegal U-20 team at half-time in the Ulster semi-final had a big impact on the game and he was one of the main reasons for Donegal giving Tyrone their biggest test of the year, taking them to extra-time. He has also been the star player for LyIT in their Freshers competition this year, being exceptional in their win over TUD in Cavan.
He has also been prominent for his club, St Michael’s, not just this year, but for a few years. His direct style is very difficult to defend against and he looks to have a very big future ahead of him.
