Off the beaten track: Stories from the latest round of championship

The Donegal SFC reached round three last weekend while the IFC group stages finished, so here's a few things you might've noticed

What’s another year?
The summer sun usually brings back the good players, no matter what their age. Michael Hegarty was togged again last week in Towney, strolling through the game with the Reserves looking as good as ever. Could he make the step up to the senior team when the going gets tough later on in the quarter or semi-finals?
Hegarty is turning out for the Kilcar club at adult level since 1996. In a lovely contribution to the recent Scéal Spóirt of Coláiste na Carraige, it seems that Kilcar may have been lucky to have his skills, as he was the prime mover behind the school entering a soccer team at vocational level!
There were others nearing the vintage stage making their contribution also at the weekend in Ballyshannon with the likes of the McGroartys, Eddie Gallagher Mark Ward on the St Naul’s reserve side while Johnny Gallagher was introduced as a sub for his first taste of championship action with the Aodh Ruadh seniors.
