On a beautiful sunny morning, the turnout from the wider golfing and local community was outstanding. The photo opportunities were also superb. The club wish to thank Kevin Stevens, Regional Manager Ulster Golf Ireland, who brought the Open Championship Trophy to Barnhill.

The Claret Jug is awarded to the winner of the Open Championship. Xander Schauffele shot a final-round 65 to win last year's Open two strokes ahead of Justin Rose and 54-hole leader Billy Horschel last year at Royal Troon. The Open Championship, often referred to as The Open or the British Open, is the oldest golf tournament in the world, and one of the most prestigious. This year's Open is at Royal Portrush in July, the same course in which Shane Lowry was a winner at the 2019 staging.

"Many young stars of our golf academy, led by the wonderful Seamus Patton, had their photos taken and minds inspired," Club PRO Oisín Mac Lochlainn said. "A fantastic day, and take a look at several of our photos! Many thanks to Anthony Kernan and the Kernan Group for their pictures and brilliant support of our junior golf academy. A final word must go to Seamus McMonagle who is coaching many of these fine prospects for Letterkenny Golf Club"
