After 45 years of dedicated service, Mary retired, leaving a legacy that will be remembered for years to come.

The retirement celebration honoured a woman who was the heart of the school for nearly half a century. A special song was written for her, capturing the essence of her character and the deep impact she had on everyone who worked with her. As a cornerstone of Scoil Cholmcille, Mary was a source of advice and support, always calm and cheerful, with a smile that brightened everyone’s day.

During her time at the school, Mary witnessed many changes and worked under five principal teachers. She saw the transition to computers, the shift to co-education, and the introduction of a new uniform. Yet, her dedication to her work and colleagues remained unwavering through all these changes. Mary provided a sense of stability and continuity that will be deeply missed.

As Mary enters retirement, she looks forward to spending time in her garden, exploring new hobbies, and enjoying her grandchildren. The peaceful shores of Fanad will now be her daily backdrop, a place to reflect on a career filled with kindness and excellence. Though she will enjoy her well-deserved rest, those who knew and worked with her will deeply feel her absence.
