Thirty teams competed at the St Patrick’s Links for the Fr Brian Quinn Memorial Golf Classic, in association with Donegal Hospice, with comedian Conal Gallen and 1992 All-Ireland winner Martin McHugh running the mic in the auction that followed at Rosapenna Hotel.
Clipfine - a leading UK construction support services company, providing services since 1975 to the largest construction projects in the UK - was the main sponsor, with chairman Thomas MacCarron in attendance.
The associated sponsors were represented in the form of Conor McEniff from Bundoran’s Allingham Arms Hotel; Cllr Michael Naughton and the McGettigan Hotel Group, Letterkenny; William Doogan of MCM Liqueurs and Spirits Ltd; and Aidan Cannon on behalf of Jma Ventures Limited and Donall Barrett, Drumhalla House Rathmullan.
Emma McHugh, Atlantic Travel, sponsored the main prize foyer €750 vouchers, which was won four-ball of Adrian Slane, ACS Civils, from Co Tyrone.
Cieran Kelly, Connectit.ie, sponsored neared the pin and longest drive, with Kelly’s Toyota putting up a car for a hole-in-one competition. A presentation was made to Charlie Collins, the local broadcaster, who last month announced his retirement.
Mr Barrett was part of the organising committee that also included Martin McHugh, Fr Charlie Byrne and John and Frank Casey from Rosapenna.

Fr Ciaran Harkin, who succeeded Fr Quinn as parish priest in Aughaninshin, Letterkenny, said a prayer afterwards and Donegal manager Jim McGuinness and county board chairperson Mary Coughlan thanked those in attendance, as did Fr Byrne.
“On behalf of the organising committee, we would like to thank you for supporting the Fr Brian Quinn Memorial,” Fr Byrne said. “Thanks to all the sponsors and those who donated prizes and items for the auction and raffle, and everyone who made it possible, as well as the Casey family for their hospitality and excellent course, and to MCM for their part in the reception.
“Your support for Donegal GAA and Donegal Hospice is very much appreciated and will help both organisations in the year ahead. The event was a huge success and we look forward to your continued support in 2025.”
