First act announced ahead of Summer Sessions 2027

Nile Rodgers & CHIC will perform at Summer Sessions 2027.

This hugely anticipated concert will see international hitmakers Nile Rodgers & CHIC come from the USA to perform all their big hits, including ‘Le Freak’, ‘Good Times’, ‘Everybody Dance’, ‘I Want Your Love’, ‘Dance Dance Dance’ and much more.

The band will only be performing one other Irish show in Cork next Summer, so this is one not to be missed!

The concert will take place in Letterkenny on August 10, 2027. Gates will open at 5:30pm and the show will begin at 6pm. Tickets, which are priced at €57.50, go on sale on Wednesday, November 11 at 10am.

Nile Rodgers amplifies his legacy as a multiple GRAMMY-winning composer, producer, arranger and guitarist by constantly traversing new musical terrain and successfully expanding the boundaries of popular music.

As the co-founder of CHIC and the Chairman of the Songwriters Hall of Fame, Rodgers pioneered a musical language that generated chart-topping hits like “Le Freak” (the biggest-selling single in the history of Atlantic Records) and sparked the advent of hip-hop with “Good Times”. Nile transcends all styles of music across every generation with a body of work that’s garnered him inductions into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and the Songwriters Hall of Fame.

His unforgettable live performances with CHIC have been included in “festival best performances” at both Glastonbury and Coachella resulting in a BBC Music Awards nomination for “Best Live Performance”, and the LA Times stating, “Nile Rodgers influence stretches all over Coachella, beaming the sound of a better future”.

Summer Sessions will see Irish and International artists take to the stage during Summer 2027 with a variety of shows for different genres and audiences.

The main objectives of this series are to increase the tourism offerings in Letterkenny and across Donegal throughout the Summer, and also boost the local economy whilst promoting the arts.
