So real men really do wear pink then . . .

As if proof were ever needed one of Ireland’s top GAA footballers proved that it was perfectly OK to wear pink at an awareness event for breast cancer in Lough Eske Castle last night.

Karl Lacey arrived and joined many of his male and female friends at the Donegal Dragons breast cancer awareness event all clad in pink.

Indeed surprisingly as it might seem some of the top rugby clubs in the world have pink as their main colours such as Harlequins, Stade Francais  to name but a few.

Even though it was a lighthearted theme, there was a strong message delivered to the 200 strong audience by recovering cancer sufferers and other speakers  “If in doubt, check it out”. It was also highlighted the fact that men can also suffer breast cancer which may have come as a surprise to many with one speaker documenting his own experiences.

Helen Kelly also give a highly inspirational talk on wellness  and how one should try to live their lives. She spoke from many of her own experiences and highlighted the message that the mind can control the rest of the body.

“If you mind your mind, your mind will mind you” she said.
