Caolan McFadden and Amy Greene have been confirmed on the Athletics Ireland team for the 2025 SPAR European Cross Country Championships.

Cranford AC athlete McFadden and Finn Valley AC’s Greene are on a 34-strong team that will compete in Lagoa, Portugal on December 14.

Their respective selections come after silver medal wins at the National Cross Country Championships in Derry.

McFadden was the U20 silver medal winner while Greene took the U23 silver.

Next summer, McFadden will make the move to Villanova University and at Templemore Sports Complex on Sunday he took his latest national medal. Only Noah Harris from Parnell AC was ahead of the Creeslough teenager.

McFadden and Harris are joined by Cormac Dixon (Tallaght), Tom Breslin (Clonliffe Harriers) and Finn Diver (Beechmount Harriers) on the Irish U20 team.

Greene ran a superb race on Sunday to claim the U23 silver as well as leading the Finn Valley AC senior women to silver.

The Rosses native competed in the previous two editions of the Europeans, going in Brussels in 2023 and in Antalya last year.
