The Donegal squad in Ballina on Saturday
Donegal boxers beat their Mayo counterparts by 10 bouts to eight in an inter-county tournament in Ballina on Saturday.
Donegal punchers won four-in-a-row towards the end of the bumper bill at the Ballina Boxing Club to edge the contests.
Cathal Russell of Dunfanaghy BC defeated Ballinrobe's Peter Scott on a slender 2-1 split with Brian Anderson from Twin Towns BC overcoming Golden Gloves' Martin Coyle and Braedon McFall, also of Twin Towns BC, seeing off Illya Kylichenko from Castlebar, both via unanimous decisions.
Raphoe BC's Gary McNamara edged out John Hegarty of Castlebar to seal the issue for the Donegal punchers, under the direction of county coach Gerard Keaveney from Raphoe Boxing Club.
Donegal girls Aoibhinn Gillespie (Twin Towns) and Hannalee Peoples (Raphoe) each claimed unanimous decisions against Geesala pair Emma Maloney and Tara Munnelly in Girl 2 contests at 44kgs and 47kgs respectively.
