Catherine Cooke Harkin from Letterkenny could just notbelieve it when we told her that as the 50th. user of the ATM on Tuesday morning she had won a luxury hamper
A passing driver had a very pleasant surprise on Tuesday afternoon after calling in to Kee’s of Laghey to purchase some groceries.
Catherine Cooke - Harkin from Letterkenny stopped at the popular service station enquiring if they had an ATM as she needed some cash. As it turned out Kee’s had only just installed their new ATM facility and were anxiously waiting on the 50th. customer of the day using the facility.
After completing her transactions Catherine was approached by Adrian McCann, regional manager of EuroCash to be told that she had just won a luxury hamper to the value of €100.
The Letterkenny woman was absolutely delighted saying that “she had never won anything in her life,” adding that she was just going to visit her mother and that the bottle of wine would make it a much more pleasant occasion.
Demand for cash remains strong
Adrian McCann of EuroCash, the largest independent ATM company in Ireland said that there still was a big demand for cash in Donegal.
He said, “In an independent study we have learned that 65% of people still prefer to use cash as their main source of payment and outlets like this would be averaging up on 200 transactions per day.
“Over the last number of years we have seen banks closing down in rural areas, a trend that is likely to continue.
“We are well placed to bridge that gap.
“This outlet at Kee’s provides a safe and secure outlet with good car parking - it is the ideal location.”
Desmond Kee said he was delighted to have this machine on his premises. “We have a big footfall through our various sections here at Eurospar and this will provide yet another important service to the customer.
“Not everybody is familiar with computer banking and at least now they will be able to get the service here on their own doorsteps.”
