Inland Fisheries Officers seized the netting in Lough Swilly
Fisheries officers are continuing their efforts against poachers in Donegal.
On Sunday, Inland Fisheries Ireland (IFI) officers seized large nets while on a sea patrol in Lough Swilly.
Nets measuring 200m and 100m were seized at Leenan Bay.
“That’s six Olympic pool lengths of netting removed from Lough Swilly,” an IFI spokesperson pointed out.
Last week, 10m of trout net, found hidden in undergrowth near the River Leannan, was seized.
In further operations, nets of 20m, 17m and 15m in length were seized over a four-day period in the Crana River near Buncrana.
Files on each case are being prepared by the IFI officers.
