The cash seized in Donegal by Revenue

Two women are being questioned after Revenue officers seized contraband worth approximately €390,000 during numerous unrelated operations in Dublin and Donegal.

Some 37,600 cigarettes of various brands, with an estimated value of €31,000, representing a potential loss to the Exchequer of €24,800. Cash to the value of €2,935 and a quantity of alcohol were also seized. Cash to the value of approximately €57,500, comprising €42,102 and £13,240.

Both of these seizures were made as a result of intelligence-led operations and with the assistance of Detector Dog Toby.

It is suspected that the cash is the proceeds of, or intended for use in, criminal activity and is detained by Revenue in accordance with proceeds of crime legislation. Revenue officers were granted a three-month cash detention order in respect of each cash discovery.

The various quantities of illicit drugs seized (with a combined value of approximately €9,400) included 172mls of cannabis oil, 30g of edibles, 7.2g ketamine, 80.2g magic mushrooms, 19.5g pentylone, 30ml synthetic cannabinoids and 3,190 Alprazolam, Benzodiazepinem, Ephedrine, Tapentadon, Zolpidem and Zopiclone tablets.

The retail goods seized (with a combined value of approximately €101,000) consisted of 535 x items of Adidas, Birkenstock, Calvin Klein, Celine, Chanel, Chloe, Converse, Dior, Gucci, Hugo Boss, Louis Vuitton, Moncler, Mulberry, New Balance, Nike, North Face, ON Cloud, Palm Angels, Tommy Hilfiger, Tiffany, Ugg, Under Armour, Versace and Yves Saint Laurent.
