Father and son sent forward for trial for assaulting two hotel bouncers

The pair are remanded to appear before the next sitting of Donegal Circuit Court

A father and son have been sent forward for trial for assaulting two bouncers while attending an event at a Donegal hotel. 

William Ward and Liam Ward, both with addresses at Orbeg, Donegal Town, appeared before Donegal District Court on Wednesday, September 1.

They are each charged with assaulting Sean Douglas and causing him harm, and with assaulting Marcin Manczykowski and causing him harm. The offences are alleged to have taken place on October 29, 2022 at the Abbey Hotel in Donegal Town. The alleged victims were working as members of the security team in the Abbey Hotel at the time. 

Garda Sean Rogers gave evidence of serving books of evidence on both defendants. 

Inspector Angela Cummins told the court that the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) consented to the pair being sent forward for trial to the next sitting of Donegal Circuit Court sitting in Letterkenny and starting on December 10. 

Solicitor Frank Murphy asked that legal aid be granted in respect of Rory O’Brien solicitor, and one barrister. 

Judge Sandra Murphy remanded both men on continuing bail to appear before the next sitting of Donegal Circuit Court.
