Fine for driver caught at 131km/h on Letterkenny dual carriageway

A man clocked driving at 131km/h on the Letterkenny dual carriageway has been fined in court.

Gareth Moore was convicted and fined €450 at Letterkenny District Court.

Moore, a 48-year-old of Hawthorn Park, Greysteel, Co Derry, was not present in court.

Garda Garrett Monaghan told the court that he was operating a speed check at 2.20pm on March 3, 2025 at Trimragh, Letterkenny. Garda Monaghan detected a white Range Rover travelling at 131km/h on a road governed by a 100km/h speed limit.

The vehicle was stopped and Garda Monaghan spoke with the driver, Moore, who identified himself to the officer.

A fixed charge penalty notice was issued, but was unpaid.

Judge Emile Daly convicted Moore and fined him €450, giving four months to pay.
