Death notices for Donegal on Thursday morning

The following deaths have taken place:

Anthony 'Con' Gallagher, Frosses and UK

The death has occurred peacefully in London of Anthony ‘Con’ Gallagher, Edgware, UK and Meenagran, Frosses.

Anthony is predeceased by his wife Freddie and his siblings Connie, Kathleen, Marie and Patrick.

Sadly missed by his beloved sons Anthony (Catherine) and John and is also survived by his loving grandchildren Catriona, Conal, Ryan, Maeve and Eamonn, his siblings Theresa, Margaret and Agnes, many nieces and nephews and wide circle of friends in Ireland and the UK.

Mass in the UK at St Anthony’s Church, Edgware, London on Wednesday, December 3 at 6pm

Anthony’s remains will arrive at The Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Frosses, Co. Donegal at 6pm on Friday, December 5 for reception prayers and to repose overnight.

Requiem Mass on Saturday, December 6 at 11am, with interment immediately afterwards in the church graveyard. Anthony’s funeral mass can be viewed on https://mcn.live/Camera/st-marys-frosses-inver

Joe Sweeney, Donegal Town

The death has taken place of Joe Sweeney, Ballydevitt, Donegal Town, F94V9YW

Predeceased by his mother Nora Sweeney, Joe is forever loved and deeply missed by his father Gerry, bothers Pauric, Paul, Michael, Ciaran (Kelly), sisters Ann, Mary, Geraldine (John), Claire (Richard), nieces and nephews Olivia, Kitty, Jessica, Lily, Finnan, Keeva, Cara and Leo. Aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family and friends.

His remains will repose at his family residence in Ballydevitt on Thursday and Friday from 2pm to 9pm. House private please on Saturday morning.

Funeral Mass in St Mary's Church, Killymard on Saturday at 11am with burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.

John Flanigan, Annagry

The death has taken place at the Donegal Hospice of John Flanigan of Culacrick, Annagry and formerly of Whiterock, Belfast.

Predeceased by his wife Dr Anne P. O' Donoghue and father John Flanigan Senior, he is sadly missed by his daughter Alice, son David, mother Annie Flanigan, sister Karen (Gerry), brothers Paul (Jeanie) and Brian (Máire) and extended family and friends.

His remains will repose at his home in Culacrick (F94 Y3Y4) on Thursday from 3pm to 8pm and on Friday from 1pm to 8pm.

John's cremation will take place at Roselawn Crematorium, Belfast on Saturday at 11.20am.

Michael Joseph Lynch, Cavan and Ardara 

The death has taken place of Michael Joseph Lynch, Brackey, Ardara, and formerly of Cootehill, County Cavan. He passed away peacefully passed after an illness borne with dignity and courage in the presence of his family.

Beloved and devoted husband and best friend of Christine, loving and much loved father of Gráinne, Kieran and Edward, Michael will forever be loved by his wife, sons and daughter, son-in-law Niall, daughters-in-law Maeve and Eszter, his adored grandchildren Niamh, Fiona, Daniel, Éanna, Rebecca, Moya, Marcus and Liam.

His remains are reposing at McCabe's funeral home, Ardara F94VCK1 Thursday from 4pm till 10pm. House private please

Funeral Mass on Saturday in the Church of the Holy Family, Ardara at 12 noon burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.

Family flowers only please, donations if desired to Galway Hospice.

Seán Donnelly, Dublin and Letterkenny

The peaceful death has taken place at St Vincent’s Hospital, Dublin of Seán Donnelly, Milltown, Dublin 6 and formerly from Cathedral Place, Letterkenny.

Deeply missed by his loving sisters Marie Kelly (Dublin), Frances Hughes (Dave) (Dublin), brother Leo (Sharon) (Letterkenny), nieces, nephew and a wide circle of family, friends and neighbours in Dublin and Letterkenny. Seán is predeceased by his wife Eilish, parents Frank and Eilís, sisters’ baby Elaine, Sue Lynch and Greta.

Seán’s remains are reposing at his brother Leo’s residence at Cathedral Place, Letterkenny F92 RWK7 on Thursday from 1pm until 10pm with Rosary at 9pm.

Funeral on Friday in St Eunan’s Cathedral, Letterkenny at 11am and can be viewed live on the parish webcam followed by interment afterwards in New Leck Cemetery, Letterkenny.

Mary Aloysius Bonner, Burtonport

The death has occurred of Mary Aloysius Bonner, née Sweeney, Lackenagh, Burtonport. She passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family.

Predeceased by her husband Aloysius, beloved Mother and grandmother, she leaves behind her sons Shane and Garrett, daughters-in-law Evelyn and Olive, grandchildren Cillian, Rebeeca, Ciaran, Eli, Hannah and Luke. Mary will be sadly missed by her siblings, Paddy, Terence, Anne, Margaret, Kevin and their Families.

Removal on Thursday to McGlynn's Funeral Home, Dungloe, F94 ND68 to repose from 4pm to 8pm followed by removal to St Columba's Church to repose overnight.

Funeral Mass on Friday at 11am followed by burial afterwards in Belcruit.

Ellen McCrory, Dublin and Killygordon

The death has taken place of Ellen McCrory, née Gallen, late of Finglas East, and formerly of The Cross Killygordon. She passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her loving family.

Ellen will be very sadly missed and remembered always by her husband Tom, Children Martina, Carl, Jason and Tom, grandchildren, great grandchildren, sisters, daughters-in-law, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nephews, nieces, extended family, neighbours and friends.

Her remains will repose at home on Thursday from 2pm to 6pm.

Removal on Friday morning to St Canice’s Church, Finglas Village, arriving at 9.50am for Requiem Mass at 10am, followed by cremation in Glasnevin Crematorium.

Family flowers only please, donations if desired to St Francis Hospice.

Tom Barry, Dublin and Bundoran

The death has taken place peacefully, surrounded by his family, of Thomas (Tom) Barry, from Bundoran, living in Clondalkin, Dublin.

He will be forever loved and missed by his children, Laura, Thomas, Donna and their Mam Annie, his adored grandchildren Michael and Ryan and their Mam Giulia, his brothers and sisters Martin, Peter, Pat, Lucy, Breege, Carmel, his nieces, nephews, extended family, friends and neighbours.

Predeceased by his mother Margaret (born Hughes), father Thomas, brothers and sisters, Brendan, Kevin, Liam, James, Mary, Joseph, relatives and friends. 

Tom’s memorial service will take place at the Maldron Hotel, Tallaght, D24 XC9W, in Shannon Suite 2 on Thursday at 2pm. The service can be viewed here

No flowers please. Donations, if you would like, could go to Our Ladies Hospice who were exceptionally kind and caring to Tom up to, and during, his short stay, and kindly supportive to his family as Tom passed away.
