Death notices and funeral arrangements for Donegal

The following deaths have taken place:

Maire Chichibnoud, Ballyshannon

The death has take place of Maire Chichibnoud, née Dilworth, 13 Station Road, Ballyshannon, F94 FK37. Maire passed away suddenly but peacefully at Sligo University Hospital.

Predeceased by her husband Renè Chichibnoud, her parents Ky and Gerry and their son James, she is sadly missed by her son Rodney (Hartion), her brothers Gerry (Mai), Peter (Bridge RIP), Eric (Katherine) RIP Imelda. 

Funeral arrangements to be announced later. 

Maggie Curran, Creeslough

The peaceful death has taken place of Margaret (Maggie) Curran, née Gallagher, of Ards, Creeslough, F92A6K7 in her 100th year at the Lakehouse Nursing Home, Portnablagh.

Much loved and sadly missed by her children – Grace (Tommy), Margaret (James), Jim (Kim), Bridget (John), Mary (George), Rose (Andy), grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, extended family and friends. She is predeceased by her loving husband, John and siblings.

Her remains will be reposing at her late residence on Monday from 4pm to 10pm and on Tuesday from 11am to 10pm. Family time please from 10pm to 11am and on the morning of the funeral.

Funeral Mass in St Michael's Church, Creeslough on Wednesday at 11am, with burial afterwards in Doe Cemetery. Funeral Mass can be viewed live on the parish webcam

Sally (Sarah) Foy, Stranorlar

The death has occurred at the Donegal Hospice, Letterkenny of Sally (Sarah) Foy, Creggan, Stranorlar, F93 VXYO.

Beloved wife of Desmond, much loved mother to sons Patrick (Ann), Dermott (Christina), Terry, Des (Sharon) Damien, Derek (Sarah) Paul (Ailish) daughters Margaret and Kathleen, dearly loved grandmother to 18 grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren, cherished sister of Bertie, Alley, John, PJ, Stanley, Harry, Martin, Margaret, Mary, Tina, Eileen, Ann, Delores, Noeleen, and the late David and Beirne. Deeply regretted and lovingly remembered by her husband, sons, daughters, brothers, sisters, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family and friends.

Her remains are reposing at her home on Monday from 6pm to 9pm and on Tuesday from 10am to 9pm. Family time on the morning of the funeral please.

Funeral leaving from there on Wednesday at 10.15 am for 11am Requiem Mass in St Patrick’s Church, Crossroads, Killygordon. Private Cremation on Thursday in Lakelands Crematorium, Cavan. The Requiem Mass can be viewed live on the parish YouTube channel

Frankie Kerrigan, Ballyshannon

The death has occurred of Frankie Kerrigan, No 41 Tírconnaill Street, Ballyshannon. He passed away peacefully after a brief illness, surrounded by his loving family and in the exceptional care of the staff in Sligo University Hospital.

Frankie will be sadly missed by his beloved wife Mary B, his devoted daughter Gráinne, son in law Kieran, sister Carmel (London), brother Jim and sister in law Una (USA), nieces, nephews, neighbours and friends.

His remains are reposing at John McGee & Sons funeral home, Belleek Road, Ballyshannon, F94 ED21 on Tuesday from 5pm to 8pm. House private please.

Removal on Wednesday morning from the funeral home to St Patrick's Church, Ballyshannon for 11am funeral Mass followed by cremation at Lakelands Crematorium, Cavan for 4pm service. The Mass can be viewed on the parish webcam

Peter Timoney, Letterkenny

The death has occurred of retired psychiatric nurse, Peter J Timoney, Ballymacool, Letterkenny, peacefully at home after a long illness bravely borne, surrounded by his loving family and in the compassionate care of hospice staff. 

Beloved husband of Gorretti and much loved father of John (Marzie), Mark (Maria), Petrina (Mark Grehan), Adele (Lee Evans) and Clíodhna (Paddy Joe Rickard). Adored grandfather to Clodagh, Anna-Lee, Natalia Rose, Cullen, Seren, Ellie-Mae, Bonnie-Rae and Seán Peadar. Cherished brother of Kathleen Higgins, Angela Gibbons, Anastasia Bagnall, Carmel Collins and Christina Timoney. Peter is predeceased by his parents John and Anna Maria, sisters Veronica, Maria, Josephine, Gertrude and Helena and his brother Leonard.

Peter’s remains are reposing at his late residence (F92 VOT2) on Monday and Tuesday from 12 noon with Rosary both nights at 9pm. There will be a shuttle bus in operation from O’Donnell Park from 12 noon until 10pm.

Funeral from there on Wednesday at 10.15am going to St Eunan’s Cathedral, Letterkenny for 11am Requiem Mass which can be viewed on www.churchservices.tv/letterkenny  Interment will take place afterwards in Conwal Cemetery, Letterkenny.

Mary Murray, Mountcharles

The dwath has taken place peacefully at Aras Mhic Shuibhne, Mullinasole, Laghey, of Mary Murray, Drimconnor, Mountcharles.

Predeceased by her husband, Michael, daughter Margaret, brother Johnny, sister-in-law Marion, and parents Ethel and James, Mary is sadly missed by her loving family, Ethna (Shaun), Tom (Fiona), Kathleen (Noel), Mary (Willie) and Jimmy (Mel), her son-in-law Seamus, Linda, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, her sister Kathleen and nephew Edwin.

Her remains are reposing at the residence of her daughter, Mary Burke, Drimconnor, Mountcharles (F94 YX50) on Monday from 2pm until 9pm for family, neighbours and close friends.

Funeral Mass on Tuesday in the Church of the Sacred Heart, Mountcharles at 11am, followed by burial in the adjoining churchyard.

Billy Wilson, Raphoe

The peaceful death has taken place at his home of Billy Wilson, Shannagh, Raphoe.

Predeceased by his wife Anne, Billy will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his son Richard, daughter-in-law Alison, grandchildren Kerrie, Sam and Rachel. Son Andrew and daughter-in-law Patricia, grandchildren Gareth and Ruth.

His remains are reposing at his home. The house is private please, family and close friends welcome.

Leaving from there on Tuesday at 12.30 pm going to Raphoe Presbyterian Church for Service of Thanksgiving at 1pm. 

Colette McLoughlin, Wicklow and Donegal Town

The death has occurred of Colette McLoughlin, née Conaghan, of Newcourt Road, Bray, County Wicklow and formerly of Donegal Town. She passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family while in the exceptional care of Mary and Gillian Mangan and their wonderful team at Kinvara House, Bray.

Remembered with love by her devoted family, husband Patrick (Paddy), daughters Carina and Suzanne, son Peter, brothers Tom and James, sister Margaret, adored grandchildren Conor, Jack, Matthew, Ella and Niamh, sons-in-law Russell and Colin, sisters-in-law Celine, Margaret, Catherine and Susan, nieces, nephews, extended family, neighbours and friends.

Her remains are reposing at her daughter Suzanne’s home (A98YX03) on Monday from 5pm until 7pm.

Funeral Mass on Tuesday at 11am in St Fergal's Church, Boghall Road, Bray after which Colette will be laid to rest in Redford Cemetery, Blacklion, Greystones.

Paddy Clancy, Ballyshannon

The death has occurred of Paddy Clancy, Creevy, Rossnowlagh Road, Ballyshannon, F94 EOE4. He passed away peacefully in the gentle and exceptional care of the wonderful doctors, nurses and staff at the Sligo University Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.

Paddy shall be sadly missed by his wife Bernadette. Forever remembered by his children; Ciaran, Niamh, Tara and stepdaughter Patti, grandchildren Ciara, Georgia, Gerard, Ella, Charli, Jude, Sophie, Conor, son-in-law Alan, daughter-in-law Fidelma, his siblings Mary (RIP), Tommy, Frank, Ann, Catherine, Bernie, Michael, Nuala, his many nieces and nephews that he adored, neighbours and close friends.

His remains are reposing at his late residence with wake continuing on Monday from 2pm to 6pm. House private to family outside of reposing times and on the morning of the funeral.

Removal from his late residence on Tuesday at 10.15am to arrive at St Patrick’s Church, Ballyshannon for Mass of the Resurrection at 11am with service of Interment in the Abbey Assaroe Cemetery. The funeral Mass shall be streamed live here.
