Death notices for Donegal

The following deaths have taken place:

Isabel Greene, Pettigo

The death has occured of Isabel Greene, Belault, Pettigo. She passed away peacefully in the wonderful care of all at the Moycullen Nursing Home, County Galway, surrounded by her loving family.

Predeceased by her beloved husband Eamonn. Isabel will be deeply missed by her four loving children Edward, John, Deirdre and Brenda, her sons-in-law, daughters-in-law and was adored by her cherished grandchildren Sarah, Catherine, Mark and Michelle who were her greatest joy. She is sadly missed also by her extended family, neighbours and many friends.

Her remains are reposing at Tir Conaill Funeral Home, Donegal Town on Wednesday from 4pm to 9pm.

Funeral Mass on Thursday at 11am in St Mary's Church, Pettigo, followed by burial afterwards in adjoining cemetery where Isabel will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband, Eamonn.

Family flowers only please. Donations, if desired, to the Donegal Hospice.

Joe McGroarty, Ballintra

The death has taken place of Joe McGroarty, Moneymore, Ballintra, Donegal, F94 R7N3. He passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family.

Predeceased by his parents, William and Anne Mc Groarty; cdeply regretted by his loving wife, Mary, children, Stephen, Lorraine, Paul, Michelle, Pauric and Aiden, sons-in-law, Hugo and Pascal, daughters-in-law, Geraldine, Donna and Sandra, grandchildren, Connor, Keelan, Ryan, Freya, Lochlann, Milo, Siomha, Mia, Odhran & Gabi, brother-in-laws, sister-in-laws, relatives, neighbours and his many friends.

His remains are reposing at his home (F94 R7N3) on Tuesday from 3pm until 9pm and Wednesday from 3pm until 9pm. Please note, a shuttle bus service will be in operation for those attending the wake, departing from and returning to Smarty Pants Carpark, Ballintra F94VH2H each evening from 5pm. Parking available at Upper Main Street, Ballintra and the Methodist Church Car Park. Family home private on the morning of the funeral, please. 

Funeral Mass on Thursday at 11am in St Brigid's Church, Ballintra, F94 AP84 followed by burial afterwards in the adjoining graveyard. Funeral Mass may be viewed online on www.churchservices.tv/ballintra

Family flowers only, donations in lieu, if so desired, to Irish Cancer Society.

Vera Breslin, Glenties

The peaceful death has occurred of Vera Breslin, 121 Ard Patrick, Glenties. She passed away surrounded by her loving family at Letterkenny University Hospital.

Predeceased by her beloved husband Kevin and son Laurence, Vera will be sadly missed by her sons Martin (Anne), Pascal (Róisín), daughter Fiona (Laurence), daughter-in-law Louise and grandchildren Conor, Ronan, Odhran, Alicia, Oisin, Lorcan and Finnian, extended family, neighbours and friends.

Vera’s remains are reposing at the family home (F94XY89) with wake continuing on Tuesday from 12 noon until 9pm. Family time on the morning of the funeral.

Funeral Mass on Wednesday at 12 noon in St Connell’s Church, Glenties with burial afterwards in the local cemetery. Funeral Mass can be viewed live on the parish webcam 

Family flowers only; donations in-lieu to Letterkenny University Hospital c/o any family members.

Frank Gallagher, Killybegs

The death has occurred of Frank Gallagher, Donegal Road, Killybegs. He passed away peacefully at University Hospital Galway, surrounded by his family.

Predeceased by his wife Marlene, sons Philip and Barry, his parents Jack and Maude, brothers Jackie, Phelim, Michael, Patrick and Tadhg, nephews Jack, Michael and Paul and grandniece Maria Anna, he is sadly missed by his son Damien, brother Eamon, sisters Mai and Anne, grandchildren Liam and Lorenzo, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives, friends and Tetiana.

His remains are reposing at Mc Brearty’s Funeral Home, Killybegs with wake continuing on Tuesday from 2pm to 9pm. House private please.

Funeral Mass on Wednesday in St Mary of the Visitation Church, Killybegs at 11am. Burial will take place afterwards in the cemetery of the Church of the Sacred Heart, Mountcharles.

Billy Ramsay, Letterkenny

The death has taken place at his home of Billy Ramsay, Ballyraine, Letterkenny.

He is survived by his loving wife Margaret, sons Wesley and Clive, daughter Amanda, daughter-in-law Jacinta, grandchildren Alex, Jack, Adam, Holly, William and James and great-granddaughter Robyn.

His remains are reposing at his late residence in Ballyraine with wake continuing on Tuesday from 3pm to 8pm. Family time, please, on the morning of the funeral.

Service of Thanksgiving on Wednesday at 2pm in Trinity Presbyterian Church, Main Street, Letterkenny, followed by committal in Gortlee Cemetery.

Family flowers only, donations if desired to the Friends of Letterkenny University Hospital. c/o Paschal Blake, Funeral Director, Stoney Arch, New Line Road, Letterkenny.

Dermot Toland, Gortahork and Clonmany

The death has occurred at the Lakehouse Nursing Home of Dermot (Dermie) Toland of Gortahork, originally of Clonmany.

Sadly missed by his loving wife Mary, daughter Sarah, son Benjie, sister Grace, brothers Jim, Colm, Patsy, Donal, grandchildren Róisín, Ann, Sinéad and Cathal, in-laws the Comiskey family (Clonmany) and extended family and friends.

His remains are reposing at his late residence (F92 DFH0), with wake continuing on Tuesday from 2pm to 8pm. Family home is private please on Wednesday.

Removal from there on Wednesday at 10.30am going to Lakelands Crematorium, Cavan for service at 2pm.

Donations in lieu to the Lakehouse Nursing Home, Dunfanaghy Comfort Fund and the Alzheimer’s Society, c/o and family member or Kieran Roarty Funeral Director, family flowers only please.

Gary Foy, Ballybofey

The death has occurred at Letterkenny University Hospital surrounded by his loving family of Gary Foy, Glencovitt, Ballybofey F93 YY58.

Beloved husband of Carmel, much loved father of Catherine (James), Conor (Eilish), Sian (Shane), and Ciaran (Niamh), dearly loved grandfather of Odhran, Cadhla, and Eabha. He is predeceased by his father John Foy.

Funeral leaving his late residence with on Tuesday at 10.15am for Requiem Mass at 11am in the Church of Mary Immaculate, Stranorlar. Cremation will take place in Lakelands Crematorium, Cavan at 3pm. The Requiem Mass will be streamed live via the parish webcam 

Mary Cassidy, Leghowney

The peaceful death has occurred of Mary Cassidy, née Dolan, Leghowney, Donegal Town, F94ERW5. She passed away surrounded by her loving family and in the wonderful care of Harbour Lights, Killybegs.

Predeceased by her parents Edward and Margeret Dolan, sister Jane (Omagh), brothers Seamus (Falcarragh) and John (Wales), she is survived by her husband Michael, daughters, Elizabeth (Eddie), Margaret (Martin), Catherine, sons Francis (Orla), Shane (Denise), 15 grandchildren, hieces, nephews and extended family. 

House private to family on the morning of the funeral

Removal on Tuesday to St Agathas, Clar for 11am requiem Mass followed by interment in the adjoining cemetery
