Disappointment as popular Donegal Town trail is damaged

The Leghowney Loop Walk outside of Donegal Town has seen deliberate damage to its signage
Leghowney Community Hall has shared their disappointment at finding damage done to a walking trail in the area.
Two signs were deliberately cut down, and another was defaced, along the popular Leghowney Loop Walk.
The incident has caused concern amongst those who have developed and maintained the 7km trail in recent years.
In a social media post, Leghowney Community Hall said: “These incidents are extremely disappointing, particularly for all those who have worked so hard in recent years to create, develop and maintain this beautiful walking route for the enjoyment of our local community and visitors alike.
“It's a great shame to see damage being caused to a facility that has been created for the benefit and enjoyment of everyone. We sincerely hope these incidents will stop immediately and that the Leghowney Loop walk can continue to be enjoyed and respected by all.”
Gardaí in Donegal Town have been made aware of the incident and are investigating.
Temporary CCTV cameras are in the process of being installed in the area in an effort to deter further vandalism and identify those responsible.
Leghowney Community Hall has asked the community to stay vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the local Gardaí.
Anyone who may have witnessed the incidents is asked to contact the Donegal Town Garda Station at 074 974 0190.
