Six Donegal companies shortlisted for inaugural BIM awards

Six Donegal-based companies have been shortlisted for the inaugural BIM National Seafood Awards, making Donegal the county with the most finalists in the competition.
The BIM awards celebrate Ireland’s €1 billion seafood sector, which employs 11,000 people across the island. The shortlist features 38 finalists from the fishing, fish farming, seafood processing and retail sectors.
The Donegal companies shortlisted include Island Seafoods Ltd., a family-owned and run businesses based outside of Killybegs, nominated in the Sustainability – Green Processor of the Year category; Marine Harvest Ireland, based in Letterkenny, in the Sustainability – Aquaculture, Environmental and Social Responsibility category; McBride Fishing Co. Ltd. in Downings, in the Competitiveness – Fishing Enterprise of the Year category; Foyle Warrior Ltd, Greencastle, in the Innovation – Best New Fishing Practice Award category; Marty McGing from Killybegs, in the Sustainability – Responsible Fisherman of the Year category; and William Spense from Downings, in the category Sustainability – Responsible Fisherman of the Year.
Tara McCarthy, BIM chief executive, said the shortlisted businesses, “have all excelled and contributed to a diverse industry that is the cornerstone of Ireland’s agri-food portfolio”.
Winners will be revealed on Nov. 17th at a gala awards ceremony at the Clayton Hotel in Dublin.
