A meeting is taking place on Thursday in Letterkenny as part of the consultation on establishing a second free preschool year.
The consultation is being held by Early Childhood Ireland which is the representative group for over 3,300 preschools and full daycare centres nationwide.
Early Childhood Ireland says it agrees with Minister Frances Fitzgerald’s remarks that the current climate of fiscal constraint should not deter an important debate about the possibility of a second year to the free preschool programme. The organisation says it believes a more equitable system is possible and that fees should be capped or tiered for parents in accordance with income and their ability to pay.
The meeting is being held in the Mount Errigal Hotel at 6.30pm this Thursday and is open to childcare professionals and parents in the county.
