The trial of a 39-year-old Arranmore man charged with the murder of another islander, which was due to start yesterday at the Central Criminal Court in Dublin has postponed.
Stephen Boyle, a native of Arranmore with an address at 44 Austen House, Cambridge Road, Kilburn, is charged with the murder of Paul Francis Boyle on October 3, 2009 at Leabgarrow, Arranmore.
Labourer Paul Boyle died in Letterkenny General Hospital shortly after he was admitted with injuries sustained when he was stabbed with a broken bottle in a bar on Arranmore island.
A large number of islanders were expected to make the journey to Dublin to give evidence and be present during the case.
However, it emerged yesterday that they case would have to be put back to a later date, as no judges would be available on the day to hear the case. A new date is to be confirmed.
