Lots to read and see inside today's edition of the Donegal Post - out every Wednesday

The front page of this week's Donegal Post newspaper

It's Wednesday and that means it's Donegal Post Day, with lots to offer in both News and Sport.

We carry the heart-stopping details of the cocaine fuelled gun rampage two years ago in Glenties of a Carlow man that saw him get eight years in jail at Letterkenny Circuit Court yesterday and we have a full court report of all that happened during the proceedings, containing detailed eye witness accounts.

We also prominently feature a former Donegal soldier who has spoken of the frustration of the 'Women of Honour' Group who met with the Taoiseach Micheál Martin this week after it was revealed that their demands for a full statutory inquiry will now be a judge-led review.

Last year, an RTÉ documentary shed light on serious allegations within the Defence Forces that ranged from bullying to sexual assault.

Of course yesterday was St Bridget's Day and we have photos of how that tradition is being kept alive in the border village of Pettigo and with a new Bank Holiday from 2023 on the same date, there is now new focus on the 5th century Irish Saint.

We were out in Rossnowlagh as well to see the start of the development of a new Community playground.

And we have some lovely photos from Siobhan McGowan from the St John Bosco Hall in Donegal Town, featuring the return of some of the most ardent and dedicated bingo lovers in the country.

In Ballyshannon the big news is the return to the stage of the Ballyshannon Drama Society in a couple of weeks in what will be a special year for them, as they are set to host the All Ireland Confined Drama Finals in April.

And there was also good news from Bundoran, where they confirmed that after a two year hiatus because of Covid-19 restrictions, the town will host their annual St Patrick's Day parade, the traditional start of the tourist season there.

This week's back page of the Donegal Post with lots of local Sport inside

Of course, it would not be the Donegal Post without our excellent Sports section and this week we feature Brendan Devenney reflecting on that game in Sligo between Mayo v Donegal, as we also look forward to our next game this weekend in Ballybofey.

That throw-in time is 14.30 on Sunday, February 6, against Kildare in MacCumhaill Park.

There was success for Tír Chonaill AC in Athlone and in College GAA circles, Colaiste na Carriage set up all-Donegal Fauls Cup semi-final after a great victory in the quarter finals.

There was more success on the Gaelic fields as well with St Catherine's VS impressive when winning the Ulster Senior B Schools title.

This and much more in your weekly edition of the Donegal Post - out now!
