ESB Networks says it will restore power as quickly as possible.
More than 4,000 homes and businesses in Donegal are without power following strong winds and heavy snowfall brought by Storm Eunice.
The worst-hit area is west Donegal where more than 3,000 customers are without power in Gaoth Dobhair. At one stage on Friday morning the fault had left more than 6,000 without electricity.
No time for the restoration of power is known. Some 700 customers are without power in the Stranorlar area and there are smaller outages in Kilcar and Falcarragh.
ESB Networks says those outages should be restored before lunchtime on Friday.
Heavy snow showers across different parts of Donegal were continuing to ensure that driving conditions remain extremely dangerous on Friday morning.
A status orange warning for snow was in place for Donegal but it was downgraded to a status yellow snow and ice warning at 5am on Friday morning.
A status yellow snow and ice warning for Ireland is in place until 10am on Saturday.
