Eamon McGee says Donegal will have to dig really deep at Dr Hyde Park against a Mayo side that haven’t tasted defeat there since 2001.
Donegal supporters weren’t happy with the fixing of that crunch ‘neutral’ All-Ireland group stage encounter but 2012 All-Ireland winner McGee says with it being a ‘must win’ for the Connacht outfit, they’ll come armed with the kitchen sink this afternoon.
“You just don’t know what you’ll get from Mayo,” said the Gaoth Dobhair man on The Square Ball podcast this week. “Our record since 2012 against them hasn’t been great.
“History is a hard thing to swim against in sport. It’s a little like the Donegal thing in Ballybofey. It’s not like we consciously went out every single game to make MacCumhaill Park a fortress.

“It’s just something that stacked up and eventually got into opposition heads. I’m just a little nervous as Hyde Park is a difficult place to go to looking for a championship win over Mayo”.
