Glenwilly defeat relegation threatened Buncrana and secure back-to-back wins in Division 1

Kealan Dunleavy and his Glenswilly teammates will wrap their league campaign with a home match versus Termon on Saturday 12 July

Buncrana 0-11

Glenswilly 1-12

Glenswilly started and finished strongly to run out four point winners over Buncrana in Division 1 of the league at a rainswept Scarvey on Thursday night.
A goal and point from leading marksman Daithi Gildea got Gary McDaid's side off to the perfect start and they adapted better to the wet conditions to build a 1-8 to 0-6 lead by half time, Sean McLaughlin accounting for five of Buncrana's points in the opening period.

Umpire Martin McKinley had to go in and red both teams out of the dressing rooms after half time – with the rain lashing down neither team was in a hurry to venture out even with referee Anthony Finn sounding several summoning blasts on the whistle.
The weather dried up in the second half, but so too did the scores: 18 minutes passed before Sean McLaughlin hit the first point after the break.
Further points from McLaughlin and sub Michael Bernard McLaughlin brought Buncrana back to within a point of the visitors, but Gary Duffy's side couldn't quite find the leveller despite having some opportunities to do so.
Instead, Donal Gallagher punched over a shot from Mark Bonner that dropped dangerously in the square.
With four minutes of normal time remaining Michael Bernard again drew Buncrana back within a point, but they failed to score after it.

Instead, this youthful Glenswilly team struck for home. Midfielder Kealan Dunleavy worked a quick 45 with Reid Kelly and fire over from inside the D, and Eoghan Scott clipped over in the first minute of injury time to put three points between the sides.
Buncrana had plenty of possession late on, but couldn't manufacture a goal-scoring opportunity to earn as equaliser and Glenswilly had the last word when Sean Wogan broke through late on and, with only the keeper to beat, elected to fist over a point and take the four point win.
Glenswilly's final match of the league is a home game against their table-topping neighbours from Termon on Saturday week.
Second from bottom, Buncrana have two games left - away to Termon this Sunday and at home to Mac Cumahill's on Saturday week – and probably need to take points in both games if they're to overtake Kilcar and avoid automatic relegation.
