Downings will go away to St Naul’s at the weekend determined to haul themselves onto four SFC points in Montcharles.

Anthony Boyle is a former SFC winner with Killybegs and is part of Curran’s backroom team.

And he says while being competitive at this level is encouraging, Downings need to now zone in on getting two points in Gerard Gallagher Memorial Park against their struggling hosts on Saturday.

“I said to the lads after Naomh Conaill to hold the heads high and the focus completely moves onto St Naul’s.

“To get close as close to Glenties as we did was a real sickener. But the lads can take great belief from that.

“It’s the exact same as the Dungloe and Kilcar games. There are positives. But in championship football, the margins are so close this season.

“So we have to move on now and look to find more improvement next weekend”.
