Jack Gallagher . . . big game for Aodh Ruadh but it wasn't enoughy
Termon 3-19
Aodh Ruadh 4-14
(after extra-time)
Termon made it through to the last four of the U-21A Championship after an enthralling contest with Aodh Ruadh at the Burn Road on Sunday with extra-time needed to separate the teams.
It’s not often a team that scores 4-14 would end up as losers but credit to both teams for giving value for money for the supporters who attended.
The sides were level at the end of the first half, Termon 2-4 to Aodh Ruadh’s 1-7. Cormac Gallagher and Owen Browne were the Termon goalscorers while Robbie Murphy hit the net for Aodh Ruadh.
Termon came out strong in the second half and scores from Cormac Gallagher, Ciaran Cassidy and Oran Gallagher, they went eight ahead, 2-12 to 1-7, but Aodh staged a great comeback in the final 10 minutes, led by man of the match Jack Gallagher, to force extra-time, his equaliser coming from a ‘45’.
There was still just a point between the sides after the first period of extra-time, thanks to a Jack Gallagher goal, but in the second period a goal from Ciaran Cassidy proved to be the vital score and Termon held on for victory.
