A host of Donegal men helped London to a closely fought draw with Sligo in Round 2 of the FBD League at the Connacht Centre of Excellence in Bekan, Mayo.

Joe McGill (St Mary’s, Convoy) started and scored the first point of the contest, while Daniel Clarke (Naomh Colmcille) and Nathan McElwaine (Termon) also started in the 1-11 to 0-14 draw.

There was very little to separate the sides throughout as London trailed 0-7 to 0-5 at the break, but Shay Rafter, who hit six points, had a fisted effort hit off a Sligo defender and just about crossed the line to put them 1-10 to 0-11 ahead with ten to play.

And while Conor Goggin put them ahead again in added time, Niall Murphy's free, which was the last kick of the game, ensured the draw.

McGill, who scored all four London points in their 3-19 to 0-4 defeat to Galway the previous day, along with McElwaine, were the only outfield players to start both games, while Andy Walsh was in nets for both games.

Shaun Wogan (Glenswilly) started the defeat against Galway on Saturday and dropped to the bench for Sunday’s match, while Michael Carroll was on the bench against the Tribesmen.
