Donegal don't nessessarily want to win the NFL but would they like an extra game, a competitive one at Croke Park against a championship rival? The answer to that would be yes.

Donegal might have an issue with left-sided free takers 

With Patrick McBrearty retiring and Ciaran Thompson out injured, Donegal are a little light on left-sided free takers. Conor O’Donnell has deputised with mixed results.

But the Carndonagh All-Star nominee has been in exceptional form to date and perhaps the burden of free-taking is something he could do without. The returning Oisin Gallen can kick off both feet.

But doing that from play and doing it from a static position out of the hands with time to weigh the situation up, off what is his weaker foot, are two different things.

But the likes of Gallen and even Michael Murphy will no doubt fancy a lot of those same opportunities “on their wrong side” off their favoured right. But the more acute angled ones could well present the problem.
