There was a serious doubt over whether last night's Sigerson Cup fixture between  ATU Donegal and Dublin City University was going to go ahead at the Donegal GAA Centre.

The pitch and indeed the secondary field at the Donegal GAA Centre in Convoy went under intense inspections from match referee Kieran Eannetta and his team, with throw-in delayed for 35 minutes in all.

Eventually, the decision was made to narrow in the main pitch, with one sideline particularly wet although the rest in good fettle, with even Michael Murphy - the former Donegal captain, DCU student and Head of Sport at ATU Donegal - doing his bit to sweep off the excess water.

Murphy has played many a role on the football field and now he can add that of sweeper, as photographer Evan Logan put it this morning. DCU won out on the night on a scoreline of 4-15 to 1-7, with Keelan McGroddy from Downings scoring the goal for ATU.
