Perhaps it was only fitting that on the last night the play ‘Jimmy’s Winnin’ Matches’ took to the stage in Letterkenny, a sizable group of those who made it possible were in attendance.

The play recounts Donegal's All-Ireland success in 2012, under the management of Jim McGuinness, who was also part of the panel when Sam came to the Hills for the first time in 1992.

Tonight, players from that famous year - Eamon and Neil McGee, Rory Kavanagh, Anthony Thompson, Paddy McGrath, Neil Gallagher, Dermot Molloy, Martin O'Reilly, joined team doctor, Dr Kevin Moran, physical therapist JD McGrenra and physio Donal Reid - all made their way to Letterkenny.

Presented by An Grianán Theatre Productions, performed by Louise Conaghan, written by Kieran Kelly and directed by Patrick McBrearty - from acting circles and not the new Donegal captain - ‘Jimmy’s Winnin’ Matches’ took place in Letterkenny on Thursday, Friday and Saturday night.

"It was amazing the boys were all in," Kieran Kelly, who watched on from the Nally Stand for the final win over Mayo, told DonegalLive. "It's great that they got to experience what they did for us in 2012. They got to see what we went through. At the time I suppose they were all in the zone on the pitch so they fact they were there means so much to all of us."
