Termon easily dispose of Naomh Brid in lopsided affair

Naomh Brid captain Eoin McGarrigle, referee Marc Brown and Termon skipper Ryan McFadden.

There was a gulf between Naomh Brid and Termon in the second half in Trummon with the visitors much too strong.

Naomh Brid 0-6 Termon 5-17

Termon, who had a difficult season in Division 1 last year, are really finding their feet again, and while they cannot be measured on this win, they look like a force.

Naomh Brid, up from Division 3, have been dealt a huge blow with multiple injuries which left them depleted. Eoin McGarrigle, Gearoid and Tommy Gallagher and young Liam Gallagher up front gave their all, but with Termon having Ryan McFadden back from county duty and Jamie Grant available also, they were just too strong. Young Cian McMenamin looks a real prospect also at wing back.

The only bit of excitement in the second half came in the final quarter and it was on the sideline with a slight disagreement (even the score was 4-15 to 0-5 at the time).

Naomh Brid had their best period in the opening quarter and despite missing a few chances led by 0-3 to 0-1 after eight minutes. Dáire McDaid had opened the scoring for the visitors from a free but Naomh Brid replied with points from Pauric McDaid (free), Gearoid Gallagher and Darren Russell.

But after one of a number of mistakes by the understrength Naomh Brid side led to the opening goal on nine minutes, the game too, a big turn. Dáire McDaid fired home the opening goal and points flowed from Ryan McFadden, Jack Alcorn, Cian McMenamin and Aaron Reid to push the lead to 1-5 to 0-3.

Pauric McDaid replied with a free won by Billy Harron but Jamie Grant came forward to fire over and Ryan McFadden punished after a turnover.

Liam Gallagher had a good point for the home side after good work by Tommy Gallagher but Termon finished the half strongly with a Cian McMenamin point and then after an effort came back off the crossbar, Ryan McFadden fired home a second goal to leave Termon ahead by 2-8 to 0-5 at the break.

The second half was just one-way traffic with the home side registering their long score with the final point on 59 minutes.

In between Ryan McFadden hit two goals before being withdrawn, as was Dáire McDaid and Jack Alcorn.

Substitute Mark Gallagher helped himself to four points while Ricky Gallagher and Cian McMenamin were also among their scores.
